Men’s Tennis drops a pair to begin GLIAC play

HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech men's tennis team opened GLIAC play this weekend with a pair of matches on the road. The Huskies fell 7-0 at Purdue Northwest on Friday and fell 4-3 at Roosevelt on Saturday.
 
Sarth Bansode and Haitam Aboufirassi won their No. 2 doubles match against the Pride, 6-2. Ian Pinnoo pushed his No. 6 singles match to three.
 
On Saturday against the Lakers, the Huskies won the doubles point. Landon Coates and Laurent Teysseire won 7-5 at No. 1 doubles, while Ian Pinnoo and Sabri Laphitz won in the No. 3 spot 7-6 (8-6). Landon Coates won 6-3, 7-6, (7-4) in the No. 2 singles to go 2-0 on the day. Andres Horobeanu won his first conference singles match in the No. 4 position, 7-5, 6-4. Sabri Laphitz forced a third set at No. 3 singles.
 
Tech is 4-8 overall and 0-2 in the GLIAC and returns to action this weekend at Ferris State on Friday and Wayne State on Saturday.
