HOUGHTON, Mich. – No. 16 Michigan Tech fell 1-0 to Bowling Green Friday at the John MacInnes Student Ice Arena. The Falcons scored early in the second for the only tally of the game.
 
Tech is now 21-11-3 overall and 16-6-3 in the CCHA. Going into the final game of the regular season on Saturday, the Huskies are in a three-way tie for second place in the standings with St. Thomas and Minnesota State.
 
"We didn't have any puck luck tonight with a lot of chances. Give their goalie a ton of credit," Tech coach Bill Muckalt said. "It was a good hockey game. A playoff-intense hockey game. We just couldn't get the equalizer.
 
"There's still a lot at play for tomorrow. We need the same effort with a little more execution."
 
Tech led in shots 30-22 but couldn't get the puck past BGSU goaltender Tyler Palmer, who earned his first career shutout.
 
Tom Leppa had an early chance that went along the goal line. Palmer somehow corralled a loose puck in the crease after a shot by Jack Anderson moments later in the first. He also stopped Teydon Trembecky on a short breakaway in the second. Jack Anderson had five shots on goal, while Carson Latimer and Brayden Boehm had four shots.
 
Dominik Rymon scored the game's only goal 4:31 into the second period, blasting in a bouncing puck on a partial breakaway. Dalton Norris and Gustav Stjernberg assisted on the play.
 
Tech was 0-for-2 on the power play and 1-for-1 on the penalty kill.
 
The regular season wraps up at 6:07 p.m. Saturday against the Falcons. With a regulation win, the Huskies can clinch the MacNaughton Cup.
 
Jack Anderson, Trevor Kukkonen, Joe Prouty, Stiven Sardarian, and Kasper Vaharautio will be honored on the ice after Saturday's game on Senior Night.
