Huskies cap four-straight on the road at No. 16 Ferris State Monday

HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech women's basketball team concludes a four-straight road contest on Monday, traveling to No. 16 Ferris State for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.

The Game

Michigan Tech dropped the first meeting against the Bulldogs, 73-64, to then-No. 22 nationally ranked Ferris State on Jan. 10, at the SDC Gymnasium. Janie Tormanen recorded a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Black & Gold.

About the Bulldogs

Ferris State will face No. 20 Northern Michigan on Saturday before facing the Huskies. The Bulldogs have won eight straight, with a GLIAC record of 14-2. The Bulldogs have played to a 9-1 record at the Jim Wink Arena this season.

Ferris State ranks first in the GLIAC in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.22), assists per game (18.2), free throw percentage (82.0), scoring offense (79.8), three-point attempts per game (28.0) and three-pointers per game (9.0).

Kadyn Blanchard leads the Bulldogs in points (16.6) and assists (4.0) per game. Mia Riley (16.2), Mya Hiram (12.1) and Emma Schierbeek (10.9) also reach double-figure scoring. Riley leads the GLIAC in free throw attempts (168) and free throws made (142) and joins Blanchard with over two steals per game. Hiram leads FSU with 6.8 boards per game.

About the Huskies

Michigan Tech is coming off a 68-57 loss to No. 22 Northern Michigan on Thursday night in Marquette for an overall record of 15-10 and a GLIAC standing of 9-8. The Black & Gold have won three of their last five and reside fifth in the conference standings.

The Huskies saw Soraya Timms lead the team offensively with 17 points and five assists, connecting on 5-of-8 3-pointers to go with five rebounds. Ella Mason also reached double-figure scoring with 10 points while Kendall Standfest added nine rebounds and eight points in Thursday's loss at NMU.

Michigan Tech ranks second in the GLIAC in free-throw percentage (80.3) and turnovers per game (13.7). Mason leads the team with a GLIAC-best 88.2 percent from the charity stripe, which ranks 12th in the country.

Mason continues to pace the team in scoring with 14 points, joined in double-figure scoring by Alyssa Wypych (11.4) and Timms (10.6), who leads the Huskies with 4.2 assists per game, which ranks third in the league.Standfest adds 9.9 points and a team-best 6.5 boards per game.

Jim Wink Arena has been a tricky place to play, with the Huskies last securing a win against Ferris State in Grand Rapids happening Feb. 24, 2022.
