HOUGHTON, Mich. – For the first time this season, the Michigan Tech women's basketball team has a one-game week in GLIAC play, traveling to No. 20 Northern Michigan for a 5:30 p.m. Clash on Thursday.Â

Thursday's contest will be televised locally on FOX-UP with Mark Evans and Dave Ellis calling the action. TV6 and FOX-UP began broadcasting the Tech versus NMU rivalry during the 2013-14 season.

The Game
The Huskies are looking to tie the series at 1-1 this season, after dropping a 76-46 decision at the SDC Gymnasium on Jan. 8.Â
About the Wildcats
Northern Michigan has compiled a 21-5 record while occupying fourth place in the league with a 12-4 standing. The No. 20 nationally-ranked Wildcats are 8-2 in their last 10 games following a most-recent weekend split, falling at Wayne State (84-63) Thursday before earning a series sweep over Purdue Northwest (82-57) Saturday.
NMU ranks first in the league in fouls per game (14.3) and third in the country in three-point percentage (37.5). The duo of Jacy Wiesbrod and Sarah Newcomer thrives beyond the arc and ranks first and second in the GLIAC in 3-pointers and 3-pointers per game.Â
Weisbrod has hit 90 3-pointers this season for an average of 3.46 per game, which is best in the country, as Newcomer has hit 65—ranking seventh in the country as her 2.50 per game sits 24th nationally.Â
The duo also ranks first and second on the team with 16.4 and 11.5 points per game, respectively. Alyssa Hill adds a team-best 7.2 boards and 8.7 points per game as CJ Romero produces 4.3 assists to go with 4.7 points and a steal per outing.
The Wildcats have the fourth-best scoring offense in the league (74.2) and the second-best scoring defense (61.8) and post 41.12 rebounds per game which is also good for second in the league.Â
About the Huskies
Michigan Tech has won three of its last four games for an overall record of 15-9 and a 9-7 GLIAC showing, residing fifth in the league standings. The Black & Gold most recently played to a weekend split, completing a series sweep at Purdue Northwest (63-59) Thursday before falling short in Detroit to Wayne State (68-67) Saturday.
Dani Nuest and Kloe Zentkowski were difference makers on the weekend as Nuest recorded a season-high 12 points as Zentkowski netted a career-high 11 points at Wayne State.
Nuest had a team-best five steals to go with four rebounds, three assists and shot 46.2 percent on the weekend (6-13), including 4-of-8 from 3-point land. Zentkowski averaged 10 points, six rebounds and two assists in her sixth and seventh consecutive starts.
For the season, Ella Mason (14.2), Alyssa Wypych (11.7), Soraya Timms (10.4) and Kendall Standfest (10.0) are averaging double-figure scoring as part of the team's 66.8 points per game.Â
Standfest ranks eighth in the GLIAC with a team-leading 6.4 rebounds, as Timms sits third in the GLIAC with a team-best 4.2 assists per game.Â
The Huskies rank third in the league in three-point percentage (33.1) as Mason splashes 2.21 of the Black & Gold's 6.7 3-pointers per game.Â
One Last Thing
Michigan Tech ranks second in the GLIAC in turnovers per game (13.6) and is 9-2 when committing fewer turnovers than the opponent this season.Â
