League of Legends
Ferris State proved to be a tough opponent for Tech, but the Huskies worked hard and managed to take them down in a 2 - 0.
The Huskies struggled early on in both matches, but through teamwork and coordination, rallied back to win teamfights and secure strong control late game. The game plan evolved to revolve around sacrificing dragon control to secure top lane dominance. Notable highlights include the performance from
Brandon Lam (
Nuggtart) in the top lane, who choked out the opposingÂ
toplaner and removed his ability to roam.
For next week, the hopes are to improve our roaming presence in the mid lane to take more 3v2s in the bottom lane and provide more support for MusicTabs and Krafinator. Balancing champions playing together that have cc and damage will also be a pairing that they look into.
Overwatch
A clean 3-0 awaited the Tech Overwatch team during their match against the University of Hawaii Manoa across Lijiang Tower, Numbani, andÂ
Runesape. Highlights from this week include the performance of Skaw45 on Tracer, who harassed the backline of UOHM to no end while the combination of JRB and Jolo outclassed the frontline.
A prominent strategy on display from Overwatch this week was the traditional Jetpack Cat and Bastion combo, to create an impromptu warship that terrorized the skies. A new addition this week was also pairing JPC with D.MON, giving the tank the ability to easily take high ground.
Overwatch takes on California State Long Beach next week and hopes to start another streak of 3-0s.
Valorant
In a nice change-up from last week, Valorant managed to take a 2-0 win over the Purdue Northwest across Haven and Ascent. Haven was the more dominant match, with the Huskies winning 13-4, while Ascent took somewhat more effort but managed to win 13-9.
A changeup in team lineup saw BrandonTheAsian coming in place of Shoop, which caused CourteousSteak7 to move over to controller in order to slot BrandonTheAsian in playing Phoenix and Raze. Highlights from the match include a dominant defense on Ascent to take the advantage after a tight first half, and a shutdown on Haven attack in order to close out the game against a harder composition.
Next week Valorant takes on Davenport, the toughest opponent they will have faced this year so far. Teamwork, coordination, and perseverance will be key if they want to continue their lossless streak.
