Overwatch wraps up fall season with top-4 finish

HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech overwatch team concluded its fall 2024 season with a fierce second round exit in the playoffs. Although the playoff run ended sooner than hoped, the season was marked by strong teamwork, notable triumphs, and unwavering resilience.

Finishing the regular season with an accomplished 6-2 record, the Huskies demonstrated individual achievement and collective development. They were able to start out the season strong and took every opportunity throughout the season to master new techniques, improve strategic understanding, and strengthen the team's camaraderie.

Being able to consistently sweep through their first few games was a thrilling demonstration of the team's exceptional skill and unwavering focus. It was a clear reflection of their dedication and teamwork. Player Brendan "Suski" Suski shared the same excitement, expressing how proud he is of their collaborative output. He emphasized that from the start of the season, the team was able to build a strong sense of cohesion and trust. It is a testament to their hard work and growing synergy as a team.

Despite challenges faced in certain games, they showed resilience, striking back with determination and ultimately creating a dominant record that earned them respect and admiration. Even in the wake of their tough losses, the team kept their energy high, maintained impressive scores and applied pressure to their opponents.

This season of intense, high scoring games propelled the teams to the first round of the Playfly Varsity Premier Playoffs. Entering the playoffs, the Huskies found themselves in an aggressive play style to put pressure on their opponents. This led them to a dominant 3-1 victory against San Jose State University securing their spot in the semi-finals. Unfortunately, the team wasn't able to defeat their opponents during the second round of playoffs. Though their playoff run was cut short, they showcased their qualities well and proved that they deserved to finish among the top 4 teams in the nation.

While this marks the end of the season for Overwatch, the Huskies are primed to make an even bigger impact in their upcoming year of competition. Be ready for the team to return in 2025 with an unmatched drive and determination.
