About the Warriors
Wayne State, arguably one of the hottest teams in the league, has won three in a row for an overall record of 12-4 and 7-1 in the GLIAC, sitting alone in second. The Warriors have two ranked wins on the season, besting then-No. 6 Ashland (81-77) on Nov. 15, before an 84-71 decision over then-No. 18 Ferris State on Dec. 6. WSU also threatened No. 1 nationally-ranked Grand Valley State (81-80) two Thursdays ago.
Lutchka earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week honors following a weekend of wins, averaging 28.5 points on 73.3 percent shooting (22-30), including 7-10 from 3-point land and a perfect 6-6 from the foul line. She netted a career-high 32 points, adding nine rebounds and four assists in the 95-88 win over Parkside before securing her third double-double against Roosevelt, leading the team in points (25) and rebounds (10).
The Warriors rank top-25 in the country in assists per game (16.1), field goal percentage (44.5) and a top-10 3-point percentage, shooting 36.9 percent beyond the arc.
WSU has a three-headed monster of McKenna Ferguson (16.3), Taylor Thompson (14.0) and Lutchka (13.9), averaging double-figure scoring and all have a career-high of 30 or more points this season. Thompson ranks second in the league in rebounds, averaging 7.6 per game and has a team-high five double-doubles.
Ferguson ranks third in the country in three-point percentage (46.1%), averaging over two made 3-pointers per game and a team-leading 2.81 steals.
Carrie Lohr is in her 15th season at the helm of the Warriors, who were selected to finish fifth in the preseason coaches' poll.
About the Pride
Purdue Northwest opened 2026 with a win, but has suffered five-straight losses, for an overall standing of 3-13 and a GLIAC ledger of 1-7. The lone victory in league play came on Jan. 2, with a 70-66 victory at Lake Superior State.
Alyssa Cole leads the team in points and rebounds for the Pride with 13.7 points and 7.1 rebounds per game, adding 2.3 assists and 1.5 steals. In total, three other starters reach double-digit scoring in Ciara Sims (11.9), Cameryn Phillips (10.8) and Riley Milausnic (10.5).
Cole has netted 20 or more points in four games this season, but Milausinc has the individual game-high with a 28-point outing against UIndy.
Phillips (35.28) and Cole (34.08) rank first and second, respectively, in the league in minutes per game.
Under the guidance of second-year head coach Jesse Ford, the Pride were predicted to finish 11th in the league's preseason poll.
