HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech junior goaltender
Owen Bartoszkiewicz has been named to the Watch List for the Mike Richter Award, given annually to the top goalie in men's NCAA Division I hockey since 2014. The Hockey Commissioners Association (HCA) announced the 29 goalies on the list, and Bartoszkiewicz is one of five from the CCHA named.
Bartoszkiewicz is a junior from Northville, Michigan, and has started 23 of Tech's 24 games this season. He holds a 14-7-2 record with a 2.35 goals-against average and .915 save percentage. Bartoszkiewicz ranks second in the nation in minutes played, fourth in wins, and 12th with two shutouts. Tech ranks 10th nationally on the penalty kill, which has been backstopped by Bartoszkiewicz. He has been named the CCHA Goaltender of the Month four times this season.
Bartoszkiewicz played at Lindenwood in 2024-25, with a .919 save percentage and 2.57 goals-against average in 29 games. He was named the Independent Hockey Goaltender of the Year. Bartoszkiewicz played six games for Minnesota during the 2022-23 season with a 3.72 goals-against average and .883 save percentage.
The 29 goalies come from the United States (9), Canada (13), Sweden (3), Czechia (2), and Slovakia (2). The largest single source is Quebec with five goalies. Of the U.S. goalies, Michigan leads the way with three. It is a young group as there are 11 freshmen, eight sophomores, six juniors, and four seniors among those recognized. Goalies qualified by meeting minimum GAA (below 2.4) and save percentage (below .917) standards. Other names may be added for consideration before the first formal vote.
A committee of voters — made up of a cross section of coaches, administrators, scouts, and media — will pare the list down to approximately a dozen semifinalists within the next three weeks and then ultimately choose a winner from three finalists who will be announced in April during the NCAA Frozen Four.
