Tomashek earns Second Player of the Week honor

HOUGHTON, Mich. – For the second time in the 2025-26 season and the 10th in his career, Michigan Tech men's basketball senior guard Marcus Tomashek has been named the GLIAC's Offensive Player of the Week for Week 8, the league announced on Monday.

Tomashek, the pride of Green Bay, Wisconsin, averaged 30 points, six rebounds and three assists, leading Michigan Tech to its second GLIAC weekend sweep with wins over No. 18 nationally-ranked Northern Michigan (84-75) on Thursday before a (81-72) victory against Ferris State on Saturday. For the weekend, the Huskies' All-American shot 40.6 percent from the field (13-32), 43.8 percent from trey (7-16) while going near perfect from the charity stripe, shooting 93.1 percent (27-29).

He recorded his third 30-point outing with 35 points in the win over the rival Wildcats on Thursday before posting 25 points, a team-leading four assists, and surpassing 2,000 career points, now ranking fifth all-time for the Huskies, in Saturday's win over the Bulldogs.

Tomashek ranks second in the GLIAC in points (306) and points per game (20.4).

The Huskies take to the road after playing four straight games at the SDC Gymnasium. Michigan Tech travels to Saginaw Valley State on Thursday before heading to Lake Superior State Saturday.
