About the Lady Jackets

Cedarville enters the second week of competition with a 1-1 record, besting familiar foe Ferris State 1-0 in their season and home opener Thursday before pushing then-No. 5 Grand Valley State to the edge, narrowly falling 3-2 on Saturday.

Goalkeeper Kaelan Swallow recorded five saves, earning her first career shutout in the victory over the Bulldogs, as Kacy Rosenthal recorded the game-winning goal following her penalty kick  with a rebound shot in the 70th minute.

The Lady Jackets were up 2-1 over No. 5 GVSU in the opening frame with Katie Ulmer burying a penalty kick as Sophie Browndyke used a 25-yard free kick to find the back of the net in the 32nd minute. Anna Taylor appeared in the net and made three saves despite Grand Valley State scoring the go-ahead goal in the 81st minute.

Jonathan Meade is in his ninth season at the helm of the Lady Jackets, who were tabbed to finish fourth in the GMAC preseason poll.

About the Timberwolves

Northwood went 1-0 in their lone game in the first week of the season, stealing a 1-0 decision at Saginaw Valley State on Friday.

Goalkeeper Lindsay Jacobs stopped five shots to earn her first shutout of the year, facing 12 shots.

The Timberwolves posted eight shots with five on target as Ava Kettler broke through in the 60th minute for her second career goal. NU also held a 2-1 advantage in corner kicks in the defensive standoff.

Mike Korhonen is in his third season leading the Timberwolves, who were selected to finish second in the GMAC preseason poll.

About the Huskies

Michigan Tech started the season with two 1-0 defeats to NSIC affiliates Minnesota Duluth on Friday and St. Cloud State on Sunday.
