HOUGHTON, Mich. – Fresh off of the GLIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, the Michigan Tech track & field squads are set to chase personal-bests in the regular season finale at the USF Fighting Chance Invite in Joliet, Illinois, hosted by the University of St. Francis on Friday and Saturday.
In total, 20 Huskies will be competing in the meet across six events including a rare 4x800m relay. Live results of the meet can be found here.
Newly crowned men's 10,000m GLIAC Champion Tucker Ringhand will run his second 10,000m in a week's time for a crack at the school record set by his former teammate and cross country All-American, Drew Kolodge in 2023. John Paul Norland, the lone Husky with an NCAA Provisional Qualifying time, will look to lower his 800m personal-best of 1:50.87 set in the season-opener at the WashU Distance Carnival. Â
Sophia Rhein, coming off of a fourth-place finish in the women's 5,000m at the GLIAC Championships will take one more crack at the distance in hopes of completing her sophomore campaign with another personal-best. Freshman Grace Folkema, most recently taking fifth in her first GLIAC Championship 800m, will also set her sights on another personal-best in the two-lap race to close her first year as a Husky. In the women's 3,000m steeplechase, Claire Endres will look to drop another personal-best after knocking over seven seconds off her personal-record in the GLIAC Championships claiming sixth after entering the meet with the ninth-best time.
