Kate Hagenbuch began her tenure as Michigan Tech's Director of NCAA Compliance and Student-Athlete Services in July 2013. In addition to her compliance duties*, Kate is the advisor of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), instructs a first year freshmen student-athlete course, and oversees the student-athlete academic advising and tutoring program. Kate is a member of the NAAC (National Association for Athletics Compliance). She is part of the University’s Title IX, Assessment and Program Collaboration committees. She also serves on the athletic department’s compliance audit, student-athlete policies review, NCAA and conference compliance, safety, drug testing and policies and procedures manual committees.
Hagenbuch came to Tech from Finlandia University, where she held many roles since 2009. She served as athletic-academic coordinator, advisor of the student-athlete advisory council and men’s and women’s cross country coach within the athletic department and sports marketing instructor within Finlandia’s International School of Business.
Hagenbuch earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Michigan Tech in 2008. She worked as a student in the athletic department and was also a student-athlete on the cross country and track and field teams.
The native of Hancock, Mich., attended Ithaca College (N.Y.) and earned a master’s in sport management in 2009. She worked as a graduate assistant in the athletics compliance office at Ithaca for a year and also gained experience volunteering in the Syracuse Athletic Department. In the summer of 2009, she interned both in the development and customer relations department at Penn State University.
