HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech tennis student-athletes
Chiara Heinz and
Landon Coates have been named to the 2025 Academic All-District® Tennis teams, selected by College Sports Communicators. The organization recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
Heinz, a graduate student from Schwendi, Germany, received the honor for the second straight season. She was named All-GLIAC Honorable Mention also for the second straight season and was dominant in singles play all year, going 9-3 overall and 3-2 in GLIAC matches. Heinz was 8-2 in the No. 5 spot, 1-0 in No. 6, and 0-1 in No. 4. In doubles play, she was 7-6 overall and 2-3 in the conference matches, teaming up with
Emily Rose for a 6-4 overall record and
Efthymia Vasiliki Konstantatou for a pair of matches. Heinz is an engineering management major with a 3.94 grade-point average.
Coates, a sophomore from Stevensville, Mich., went 7-5 overall in singles play on the season and 2-3 in GLIAC matches and was also named All-GLIAC Honorable Mention. In doubles, Coates teamed up with
Vitor Jordao to go 7-6 overall and 2-3 in conference matches. The duo was 2-4 in the No. 1 spot and 5-2 in the No. 2 position. Coates is a mechanical engineering major and holds a 4.0 GPA.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
