HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech men's tennis team opened GLIAC play with a weekend split at Gates Tennis Center. The Huskies defeated Roosevelt 4-3 on Friday before falling 5-2 to Purdue Northwest on Saturday.
Tech took the doubles points with wins in the top two spots over the Lakers on Friday.
Leon Sell and
Laurent Teysseire won 6-4 at No. 1, while
Landon Coates and
Vitor Jordao won 6-1.
Adam Fenjiro dominated his opponent 6-1, 6-0 in No. 2 singles.
Leon Sell,
Laurent Teysseire, and
Landon Coates all won their singles matches to wrap up a perfect day. Sell was victorious at No. 3 singles 6-2, 6-4, Teysseire won 7-5, 6-0 at No. 5, and Coates won at No. 6.
Leon Sell and
Laurent Teysseire earned their second doubles win of the weekend on Saturday against the Pride, 6-2. Sell also won at No. 3 singles 6-2, 6-3 for a 4-0 weekend.
Landon Coates earned the other point for the Huskies 7-6, 7-3 at No. 6 singles.
Tech is 3-5 overall and 1-1 in the GLIAC and hosts Ferris State on Friday and Wayne State on Saturday in the final home matches of the season.
