Clayton Adds trio to 2026-27 Women’s Basketball Roster

HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech women's basketball head coach Sam Clayton has announced the signing of three future Huskies on the opening day of the national signing period. The class includes Jenessa Eagle, Jasmin Heuer and Abbie Pietila.

"I'm really excited about our 2026 class," said Clayton. "They all love Michigan Tech, are great players and even better people."

Jenessa Eagle | 5-9 | Guard | Ishpeming, Mich. | Ishpeming HS
Coach Clayton on Jenessa: "Jenessa is an explosive scoring guard from the U.P. She never backs down from a challenge and I'm excited for her to bring that grit to our team."

Eagle is a 2024 state champion as part of the Ishpeming High School squad. She holds MHSAA individual records of 15 points in one quarter of the state final game, five 3-pointers in a single game final round and single season 3-pointers made with 72. In her junior season she was named to the Detroit Free Press First Team (D3), BCAM D3 First Team, BCAM Academic All-State, Associate Press First Team (D3), All-UP Dream Team, MPC First Team, MPC All-Defensive Team, West Pac Dream Team and West PAc All-Defensive Team accolades.Eagle is a member of the National Honor Society and a BCAM Academic All-State honoree. She is the daughter of Jennifer and Josh and plans to earn a degree in human biology while at Michigan Tech. 

Jasmin Heuer | 5-10 | Forward | Fall Creek, Wis. | Fall Creek HS
Coach Clayton on Jasmin: "Jasmin is a versatile guard/forward that can play and guard multiple positions. I think her best basketball is ahead of her and I can't wait to get to work with her."

Heuer is a two-time All-State honorable mention selection and a three-time conference selection for Fall Creek. For her career, she has averaged 15.4 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists. She is the daughter of Adam and Jessica and plans to earn a degree in business while at Michigan Tech. 

Abbie Pietila | 5-8 | Guard | Delano, Minn. | Delano HS
Coach Clayton on Abbie: "Abbie is a tenacious point guard who is aggressive on both the offensive and defensive end. With family up here and her dad being a Michigan Tech alum, she has a pride for the program that is unmatched. I think she'll bring all the intangibles necessary at the point guard position and the defensive mindset needed to succeed in the GLIAC."

Pietila is a three-year captain, an all-state selection, three-time All-Conference and three-time All-Area selection for Delano High School. In three seasons she has averaged 16 points, five rebounds and 4.7 assists per game. She has scored 1,314 career points with career-highs of 31 points and 13 assists. Academically, Pietila is among the top-20 percent of her class. She is the daughter of Peter and Nora and plans to earn a degree in sports and fitness management while at Michigan Tech.
