HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech women's basketball team opens the second half of GLIAC play at home this weekend, playing host to Davenport on Thursday (5:30 p.m.) before Alumni Day against No. 1 nationally-ranked Grand Valley State on Saturday (noon).

About the Panthers
Davenport has played to a 2-8 record in league play, earning its first win over Parkside at home on Saturday (57-51). For the season, the Panthers are 4-14 overall and reside in the last spot in the GLIAC standings.
Despite the record, the Panthers are third in the league in 3-point percentage defense (28%) while ranking fourth in the GLIAC in blocks per game (3.2), led by Lillee Gustafson, pacing the league with 1.79 blocks per game with 25 total blocks this season. Gustafson also leads the Panthers with 7.9 boards per outing, which places her third in the conference. Nevaeh Williams adds to the defense with 38 steals this season for an average of 2.11 per outing.Â
Offensively, Ellie Toney returned to action last weekend with 27 points against Purdue Northwest and 15 in the win over Parkside. Toney (14.0) and Deyonce Thompson (10.0) led the way on offense as Isabel Lindo adds 9.1 points per game.
About the Lakers
No. 1 Grand Valley State is perfect halfway through league play with an unblemished 10-0 record in the loop while playing to an overall record of 20-1.
The Lakers have the eighth-best scoring defense in the nation, holding opponents to 51.9 points a game. The Duo of Rylie Bisballe (28 blocks) and Mackenzie Bisballe (20 blocks) are the interior threats on both ends, as they both have recorded over 20 blocks this season.
Nicole Kamin (48) and Rylie (37) are the team's top stealer's with Kamin averaging 2.4 steals a game.
Abrie Cabana chips in a team-leading 1.71 3-pointers per game for a team that produces the third-best scoring offense in the nation (84.1).Â
Rylie has the best field goal percentage in the league (51.6%), leading the offense with 12.8 points per game. Four additional Lakers are scoring at least 8.9 points per outing.Â
About the Huskies
Michigan Tech finds itself sixth in the league with a 5-5 ledger in the GLIAC while playing to an overall record of 8-10.Â
The Huskies recently recorded a weekend split with a feel-good win on Thursday in the Soo (101-52) in a game that saw Michigan Tech score the most points for a game in the Sam Clayton area while recording 30 assists, just one shy of the program record set in 2017. However, the Black & Gold ended the road trip with a 75-49 loss at Ferris State.
Michigan Tech has the second-best field goal percentage (43.8) in the league, pouring in 69 points a game led by a trio of Huskies in double-figure scoring in Isabella Lenz (14.5), Kendall Standfest (11.2) and Janie Tormanen (10.5). Lenz also leads the team with a free-throw percentage of 85.2 percent, which ranks first in the GLIAC, while adding 1.72 3-pointers an outing.Â
Standfest also is the team's top rebounder with 7.6 boards per game which, ranks fourth in the league.
Dani Nuest comes off the bench as the team's top facilitator for the Black & Gold with 3.1 assists as Lenz adds 2.9 per game.Â
One Last Thing
The Huskies won in their first meeting with Davenport and will look to complete the series sweep.
