About the Lakers

Lake Superior State enters the week with a 5-11 overall record while playing to a 2-6 ledger under first-year head coach Grace Howrigon. The Lakers are 3-3 at the Ronald "Bud" Cooper Gymnasium and have most recently dropped three in a row, falling 104-48 to No. 1 ranked Grand Valley State (Jan. 11) before dropping a GLIAC weekend at Purdue Northwest (70-60) on Thursday and Parkside (74-62) on Saturday.

Junior forward Grace Bradford does it all for the Lakers as a double-double machine, recording eight games of over 10 points and 10 rebounds this season, averaging 14.1 points and 9.4 rebounds to go with 2.4 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.1 blocks—all of which lead the team.

Bradford's eight double-doubles this season lead the league and ranks 12th in the country. She's scored in double-figures in 13 games, including three 20-point outings with a season-high of 27 points.

Breah Golden (13.7) and CeCe Hacker (8.1) are vital pieces in the Lakers 56 points per game, with Golden ranking first in the league with a 3-point percentage of 42.2, connecting on 2.19 triples an outing. Golden was lethal in the loss at Parkside, pouring in 29 points on 12-for-16 from the field to go with 3-for-5 from deep.

The Lakers were predicted to finish 11th in the preseason coaches poll.

About the Bulldogs

Ferris State has won three-straight games for an overall record of 13-4 with a GLIAC standing of 7-1 for the second spot in the league. Since losing to the No. 1 ranked Grand Valley State Lakers, the Bulldogs have wins over Davenport (89-58), at Parkside (75-69) on Thursday and Purdue Northwest (95-70) Saturday.

The Bulldogs are one of the top-scoring teams in the country, producing 80.1 points per outing, ranking second in the league and 10th nationally. Kadyn Blanchard and Emma Schierbeek have made 32 3-pointers this season, while Elle Irwin has cashed in on 25 from deep.

Ferris State has played the last four games without its leading scorer, Blanchard, but has displayed depth offensively as Mia Riley (13.7), Mya Hiram (11.7) and Kenzie Bowers (10.6) average double-figure scoring. Riley earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades after averaging 20 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in the weekend sweep.

Defensively, the Bulldogs wreak havoc with 13.3 steals per game while holding the opposition to 64.8 points per outing. Riley has an impressive 51 steals this season (three steals per game), with Elle Irwin (42) and Kenzie Bowers (34) among the top 10 in the GLIAC.
