HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech men's basketball team travels to Green Bay for an exhibition tilt against the Phoenix at noon on Wednesday to close out competition for 2024.

Complete action of the game can be found at Michigantechhuskies.com/live.

About the Phoenix

Green Bay is discovering its footing under first-year head coach and Fox Sports Radio host Doug Gottlieb, owning a 2-10 overall record with a 0-2 ledger in the Horizon League. The Phoenix are on a seven-game losing skid, most recently falling at UC Santa Barbara (83-66) on Saturday.

The nation's second-best scorer resides with Green Bay, as senior guard Anthony Roy, pours in 25.7 points per game. He has scored the most points at the Division I level this season (283) and also ranks first in the country in three-point attempts (111), three-point percentage (43.2), three-pointers per game (4.36) and total 3-point field goals made (48). He is also the team's leading rebounder, grabbing 5.3 boards per game.

Sophomore forward Marcus Hall joins Roy in double-figure scoring with 13.2 points per game and a season-high 21-point outing in the loss at Oklahoma State (Nov. 4).

Green Bay averages 72.6 points and 28.6 rebounds per outing while allowing 83.2 points and 39.8 rebounds to the opposition through 12 games.

About the Huskies

Michigan Tech heads into the final contest of 2024 on a five-game win streak while also sweeping in the opening week of GLIAC play to boast a 7-3 overall record and a 2-0 ledger in the league.

The Huskies came to life after returning from a trip from Minnesota, which ended in the Black & Gold downing then-No. 3 ranked MSU Moorhead (74-70) on Saturday, Nov. 23. Since then, Michigan Tech has rattled off four-straight wins at the SDC Gymnasium, outscoring opponents by an average of 35 points on 57.4 percent from the field and 47.9 from beyond the arc.

In that span, six Huskies are averaging at least nine points a game, with Marcus Tomashek (15.7), Dawson Nordgaard (11.8) and Matt Schmainda (10.5) reaching double-digit scoring.

As a team, the Black & Gold are producing 9.9 3-pointers as part of 81.5 points per game. Schmainda (10-for-15), Ty Fernholz (9-for18) and Adam Hobson (8-for17) have made eight or more 3-pointers over the last four games.

Defensively, Gabe Smith had a team-leading nine steals, while Schmainda has added five in the four-game homestand.

One Last Thing

Freshman forward Grant Warren earned the Huskies' first GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors, following Saturday's 106-43 win over Northland. Warren came off the bench for Michigan Tech and produced 11 points (5-for-7) while leading the Black & Gold with nine rebounds, seven on the defensive end, to go with two steals and a block in 18 minutes of action.
