Rocket League concludes an extraordinary fall season with top-4 finish

HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech Rocket League team wrapped up its fall 2024 season with a hard-fought exit in the second round of the Playfly Varsity Premier Playoffs against Seton Hall University. While the playoff exit is unfortunate, the season was full of teamwork, triumph, and undeniable resilience.

This Huskies had an incredible regular season run, finishing with a 7-2 record. Each match-up came with a unique set of challenges that they had to adapt and overcome. They took every opportunity to master new skills, improve their in-game knowledge, and facilitate stronger bonds between the individuals on the team.

Each of the Varsity team members were able to not only show their team ability but their individual fight. Players Isaac "Stewy" Stilwell and Lucas "Grape" Foster became known for their almost impossible play style, being able to source pixel perfect goals in nearly every game of play. This in combination with the fast-paced defensive style of Hunter "Carrot" Grandon, the team became an unstoppable force that continually made waves in their league.

Even when facing adversity in game the team found ways to regroup and find ways to strike back and create a dominant record that was revered throughout the league. During their unfortunate regular season losses, the team kept high scores and intense pressure on their opposition. While they may have dealt with the unfortunate loss, they came back to their next week of competition with a fire, hungry for the win.

This season of high scoring, high pressure games lead the team to the first round of Playfly Varsity Premier Playoffs. Coming into their first postseason match as the underdogs the Huskies found themselves in a do or die situation. Their aggressive play style challenged their opposition leading to their impressive 4-1 victory, giving them the opportunity to advance to the Semi-finals. While their playoff run may have been cut short, they showed the tenacity and drive that has become this team's signature. These strengths proved that this team deserved to finish top 4 in the nation.

Although this may have been the end of the season, the Huskies created the foundation for their next year of competition. Expect the team to come back with an undeniable drive and tenacity for the 2025 season.
