HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech cross country squads are back in action on Saturday at the Lewis Crossover hosted by Lewis University. Due to field sizes, this year the Lewis Crossover will have a championship race (limited to 12 per roster) and an open race.

10:45 a.m. – Men's 8,000m Race
11:30 a.m. – Women's 6,000m Race
12:15 p.m. – Women's Open 6,000m Race
1 p.m. – Men's Open 8,000m Race

About the Race
The Lewis Crossover in its ninth year running has quickly become one of the most sought-after meets across the division due to the amount of out-of-region teams competing, which will factor into national consideration for at-large berths. For context, The meet showcases 52 different schools from 24 states. 12 teams among the nation's top-25 including three in the top five will compete in the women's race. The men's race will boast 16 nationally ranked teams with over 1,100 student-athletes competing in the four races. This meet will also be a regional course preview of sorts as Lewis plays host to the NCAA Midwest Regional meet the second Saturday of November.
Last Time Out
The Huskies have enjoyed two weekends away from competition most recently competing at the Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 20th. Sophomore low-stick Sophia Rhein claimed sixth overall in a race with over 300 competitors to lead the women's team to a seventh-place finish scoring 193 points. The Traverse City, Michigan, native improved on her 28th-place finish from her freshman season, lowering her time by 50 seconds.
The women's top five finished among the top 61 with veteran Cedar Gordon (35th place), sophomore Alisa Teige (53rd place), first-year Erica Kazin (56th place) and junior Claire Endres (61st place).
In the men's race, the then-No. 26 nationally-ranked Huskies took runner-up honors scoring 91 points led by senior Sam Lange who took eighth among a field of 350 runners. Tech's top-five averaged 26:37.5 for 8k with an impressive spread of 34.4 seconds.
Veteran Tucker Ringhand took 12th overall, transfer Michael Dennis finished 23rd and junior Callen Carrier took 25th in the race.
Sam Lange earned GLIAC Athlete of the Week honors for his performance at the Roy Griak Invitational as the Men of Michigan Tech moved up three spots in the USTFCCCA National Coaches' Poll, traveling to Romeoville, Illinois, ranked 23 in the country.
