Huskies Fall Short at Findlay 62-52

Box Score

FINDLAY, Ohio — Findlay ended the game on a 17-5 run to defeat Michigan Tech 62-52 in GLIAC men's basketball at Croy Gymnasium tonight. The Huskies erased a seven-point deficit to grab a 47-45 advantage with 7:15 to play but couldn't hold on.

Tech finished with a 41-30 rebounding advantage, but committed 17 turnovers which led to 17 UF points.

The Huskies had scoreless drought of 4:40 spanning halftime, which allowed the hosts to claim a 29-23 advantage with 19:30 to play. Tech cut the margin to one point twice and tied it at 39-all but couldn't get a lead.

Finally with 7:15 to go, Kyle Monroe's second straight bucket gave Tech a 47-45 advantage—its first lead since the first half.

Findlay (3-4, 1-2 GLIAC) answered with five straight free throws to go ahead for good.

Tech was still within 56-52 with 3:19 to play, but didn't score again. The Huskies missed four shots and turned the ball over twice down the stretch.

"We're just not good enough right now," said Tech coach Kevin Luke. "If you hold Findlay to 62 points in this gym, you give yourselves a great chance to win. Turnovers killed us. We've just got to be better.

Monroe notched 17 points and 15 rebounds for the Black and Gold, scoring 11 in the second half. His performance on the glass was the best since 2013, when Ali Haidar had 17 rebounds.

Luke Heller also had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Dillon Gordon added 12 points. No other Husky had more than three.

UF was paced by Tyler Stern-Tucker's 18 points off the bench.

Michigan Tech will have two days off before playing at Wayne State on Sunday (Dec. 13) at 3 p.m.
