PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Michigan Tech women's basketball team extended its winning streak to eight games with an 81-57 win over Lake Erie on Thursday (Jan. 9) evening. The Huskies shot 54 percent from the field, had 10 players enter the scoring column and outscored the Storm by 17 points in the second half.

Tech is now 9-2 overall and 7-2 in the GLIAC. The Huskies had four players in double figures along with a breakout performance by Kelli Guy. She shot 4-for-5 from 3-point territory and scored a career-high 12 points in 13 minutes of action. Kylie Moxley, Mackenzie Perttu and Paige Albi all scored 13 points.

"I'm very happy to pick up this win," Tech coach Kim Cameron said. "We calmed down in the second half, after some turnovers, and made a few shots to take control.

"Everyone played their role tonight and it was fun to watch. I'm so happy for Kelli. She's worked hard all year and her and Morgan (Anderson) really played with a lot of poise tonight against a lot of pressure defense."

Lake Erie (6-7, 1-6 GLIAC) jumped out to an early 10-5 lead and forced the Huskies into 11 first-half turnovers. Tech took its first and final lead of the game on a jumper by Albi—two of her nine in the first half—with 12:19 left in the opening frame.

Tech expanded the lead to 11 with 38 seconds remaining in the first but gave up two jumpers and held a 34-27 halftime lead.

Perttu nailed two 3-pointers early in the second half and Tech led 47-35 five minutes in. Leading 49-40, the Huskies went on a 21-5 lead in the middle of the second half to take a commanding 70-45 lead after a Guy 3-pointer with 5:43 left.

Tech's bench finished the job and outscored the Storm reserves 47-23.

The Black and Gold were 27-for-50 from the field and 10-for-19 from beyond the arc. The Huskies dominated the boards 34-21 and forced 20 LEC turnovers.

Kate Glodowski scored eight points while Morgan Anderson, Kerry Gardner and Taylor Stippel all added six. Danielle Blake had a game-high six rebounds while Anderson added four assists.

Kaeding Skelton led the Storm with 13 points. Chrissy Delaney (12) and Daija Jones (10) were also in double figures. LEC shot 36 percent (17-for-47) from the field and only 3-for-10 from three.

The Huskies wrap up play against the South Division on Saturday (Jan. 11) with an 11:30 a.m. tip at Ashland. The game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.

"We're so excited about Saturday's game," Cameron said. "It's going to be great to represent Michigan Tech on national TV. Everyone should be rested and it's going to be a good game."
