UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Michigan Tech volleyball team wrapped up the 2013 season with a 3-0 loss at Saginaw Valley State on Saturday (Nov. 16) afternoon. The Huskies finished the season 10-20 overall and 6-12 in the GLIAC. The Cardinals won 25-17, 25-15 and 25-21.

"Credit needs to go to Saginaw, for putting together a well-played match," Tech coach Matt Jennings said. "They really came ready to play."

Tech jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the match and led 10-9 before the home team closed the set on a 16-9 run. The two teams were tied at 11 midway through the second set. A 14-5 run gave the Cardinals the lead heading into the break. In the third, Tech battled back to tie it at 16 but kills by Kaylee Schmitt and Lindsay Reynolds closed out the match.

Kendall Ward led the Tech offense with eight kills. Jordanna Kero added seven kills and Kienna Sharp had five.

Madeline Haben tallied 21 assists to set up the Huskies attack and also added five kills.

"I thought Jordanna was really strong for us today, she and Maddie were our leaders out there," added Jennings.

SVSU (17-12, 9-9 GLIAC) had two players with eight kills and three with six. Nicole Adam and Kelly Vellucci had 16 assists and Kelsey Ferla led with 16 digs.

Haben, Kero, Abby DeWitt and Tessa Mauer played their final match in the Black and Gold on Saturday.
