Box Score BEMIDJI, Minn. - Tiffany VanHaaften scored five minutes into
overtime to lift Bemidji State to a 3-2 win over the Michigan Tech
soccer team Sunday (Sept. 2).
"Today was a hard fought battle and a tough loss for us," said
head coach Michlle Jacob. "We had two very nice goals but
unfortunately couldn't finish a few more of the opportunities we
created. I felt we played a consistent game and was proud of how
hard our girls worked from start to end."
Jessie Voeller opened the scoring for the Beavers with a goal in
the ninth minute for the only goal of the first half.
The Huskies answered with a pair of goals in the second half.
Lindsey Van Rooy scored in the 64th minute with a header off a
cross from Janelle Riedl. Riedl would score the second goal for
Tech off an indirect kick in the 79th minute.
Mary O'Brien tied the score at two for the Beavers in the
82nd minute.
Jenna Phelps made seven saves in the loss for the Huskies.
Both teams recorded 23 shots in the game, and BSU finished with an
8-7 advantage in corner kicks.
Tech will play at Green Bay Sept. 7th.
