Box Score

BEMIDJI, Minn. - Tiffany VanHaaften scored five minutes into overtime to lift Bemidji State to a 3-2 win over the Michigan Tech soccer team Sunday (Sept. 2).

"Today was a hard fought battle and a tough loss for us," said head coach Michlle Jacob. "We had two very nice goals but unfortunately couldn't finish a few more of the opportunities we created. I felt we played a consistent game and was proud of how hard our girls worked from start to end."

Jessie Voeller opened the scoring for the Beavers with a goal in the ninth minute for the only goal of the first half.

The Huskies answered with a pair of goals in the second half. Lindsey Van Rooy scored in the 64th minute with a header off a cross from Janelle Riedl. Riedl would score the second goal for Tech off an indirect kick in the 79th minute.

Mary O'Brien tied the score at two for the Beavers in the 82nd minute.

Jenna Phelps made seven saves in the loss for the Huskies.

Both teams recorded 23 shots in the game, and BSU finished with an 8-7 advantage in corner kicks.

Tech will play at Green Bay Sept. 7th.
