MIDLAND, Mich. - Michigan Tech lost its opening match of the
GLIAC men's tennis tournament last night to Wayne State. The No.
3-seeded Warriors (14-9) defeated the Huskies (7-12) by a 5-0
score.
All three doubles matches were tightly contested and decided by 8-5
scores. At No. 3 doubles, Tech's Doug Yossida and Bryan Bartelt had their five-match winning streak
snapped.
The first two completed singles matches went into Wayne State's win
column in straight sets, ending the match. Bartelt was defeated
6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 while James Konarske fell by a 6-1, 6-1 count at No. 4.
Matches at Nos. 1, 2, 3, and 5 singles remained unfinished.
Michigan Tech will take on No. 7-seeded Findlay today in round two
of the GLIAC Tournament.
