PAINESVILLE, Ohio - The Michigan Tech men's basketball team
out-rebounded Lake Erie 36-25 in a 61-58 conference win over the
Storm Saturday (Feb. 18) in Painesville, Ohio.
The Huskies, who shot 52-percent (13-25) in the first half, enjoyed
a 37-29 lead at halftime. Tech's shooting cooled off in the second
half as it shot just 33-percent (8-24) over the final 20 minutes.
The Huskies would finish at 43-percent for the game.
The Storm made a pair of baskets with less than two minutes
remaining to close within two points, 60-58. The two teams would
both turn the ball over before sophomore Alex Culy made a free throw with eight seconds
remaining. Culy finished with 10 points thanks to three
3-pointers.
Fellow sophomore Austin Armga finished with a game-high 18 points for
the Huskies. He shot 7-of-12 from the field and made all three free
throws.
Junior Ali Haidar tallied a double-double with 17 points and
11 rebounds.
Nate Tait led the Storm with 11 points, nine of which came in the
first half.
Both teams recorded nine steals and Tech finished with a 16-4
advantage in second chance points.
Tech will host Saginaw Valley State Thursday (Feb. 23).
