HOUGHTON, Mich. - The Michigan Tech volleyball team posted a 3-0
(25-17, 25-17, 25-16) loss against Ferris State in the Great Lakes
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener for both schools Friday
(Sept. 9). Ferris State (5-0, 1-0 GLIAC) finished with a 50-24
advantage in kills over Tech (2-4, 0-1 GLIAC).
The Bulldogs hit a match-high .517 to win the first set, 25-17. The
Ferris attack cooled a little in the second set (.323), but the
Bulldogs used a pair of four-point runs early in the match en route
to a 25-17 win. The Huskies could not solve the Bulldog's attack in
the third set as FSU hit .412 to win 25-16.
"We played like a young team, which we are," said head coach Orlando Gonzalez. "We know a better game is in
us. We have played better. We need to get back on track."
Aly Brecht led a quartet of FSU players with 10-plus kills with a
match-high 13. Sophomore Jordanna Kero led the Huskies with six kills.
Tech freshman Ciara Sebelius tallied 13 assists, and sophomore Tessa Mauer added eight digs.
Tech will continue GLIAC play Saturday (Sept. 10) when it hosts
Saginaw Valley State at 4:00 p.m.
