TIFFIN, Ohio - The Michigan Tech men's tennis team cruised to an
8-1 win at Tiffin Friday (Apr. 1) in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference match. The victory improved the Huskies' record
to 5-7 overall and 1-3 in league play.
Tech opened the match with a 3-0 lead after sweeping the doubles
competition. Luka
Stupar and Doug
Yossida combined for an 8-4 victory at No. 1 while Anders
Sandholm and Andrew
Kremkow were victorious by an identical score at No. 2. James
Konarske and Chris
Verhulst completed the sweep with a 9-7 decision at No. 3.
In singles, the Huskies won every match in straight sets except
the No. 5 flight, where Kremkow was edged in a third-set super
tiebreaker 6-3, 2-6, 10-6.
"We played well and did a good job making decisions during every
point," said head coach Mike
Axford. "This match should give us confidence going
forward."
Michigan Tech will return to action Saturday (Apr. 2) with a
match at Findlay.
