HOUGHTON, Mich. - The Michigan Tech volleyball team recorded 52
kills but dropped a 3-2 decision to Tiffin Friday (Oct. 7).
Shelby Jones recorded a double-double for the
Huskies with 12 kills and a team-high 14 digs. She also finished
with a .345 attack percentage (12 kills, 2 errors, 29
attempts).
Alex Schwalbe finished with a team-high 16
kills, and Brianna Wethal added 11 kills.
Tiffin opened the match with a win in game one 25-19, but Tech
battled back to win game two 25-21.
Tech hit a match-high .458 in the third set to win 25-9. The nine
points was the fewest points that Tech has allowed in a set this
season.
Tiffin hit .290 in the fourth set, its best percentage of the
match, to win 25-20 and force a decisive fifth set.
With the score tied at 15, Tiffin recorded kills by McKenzie Wright
and Maureen Kurtz to take the set (17-15) and the match. Wright
finished with 14 kills for the Dragons.
Tech controlled the serving game finishing with six aces and giving
up one. Tech also only recorded three service errors to 10 by
Tiffin.
Tech will host Ohio Dominican in league play Saturday (Oct. 8).
