INDIANAPOLIS - Michigan Tech held on to the top spot in the
Midwest Region as the NCAA released the latest rankings today. The
Huskies, who split their two games last week, sit ahead of
Indianapolis for the second straight week.
Both Tech and UIndy have just two losses on the season. Every other
team in the region has at least six losses.
Region rankings are used to determine host sites and seeding in the
NCAA Tournament. Typically, the top team in the region has the
right to host the eight-team regional.
The NCAA committee that produces the region rankings will release
another set of region rankings next Wednesday (Mar. 3) before
announcing the NCAA Tournament field on Sunday (Mar. 7).
