SINCE 2003-04
Michigan Tech has won each of its first three games
for its best start to a season since 2003-04. Tech owns wins over
Division II foes Bemidji State, Rockhurst and Missouri Western
State after the first week of the year. The 2003-04 Huskies won
eight in a row to open that season.
HOJNACKI POSTS DOUBLE 17s
Junior Mike
Hojnacki tallied 17 points in each of Tech's wins last weekend
and has a scoring average of 18.3 after the first week of 2010-11.
The 6-7 forward ranks third in the GLIAC in scoring and is shooting
51.1 percent from the field. Hojnacki has picked up where he left
off last season, when he averaged 18.5 points and 6.5 in the final
eight games of the year.
HAIDAR NOTCHES FIRST DOUBLE-DOUBLE OF
2010-11
Sophomore Ali
Haidar posted his first double-double of the season vs.
Rockhurst last Friday (Nov. 19) with 21 points and 12 rebounds. The
6-7 forward is shooting 69.0 from the field and averaging 16.0
points and a team-high 8.3 rebounds after the first three games.
Haidar had three double-doubles as a freshman a year ago.
BUSY SCHEDULE TO START
Michigan Tech plays six games in 13 days to open the
2010-11 season with home games vs. Bemidji State and Finlandia and
four road games. The Huskies will play six of their seven
non-conference games during the stretch, which will take them to
Missouri, Minnesota and Wisconsin for games.
SERIES VS. FINLANDIA
Michigan Tech will play Finlandia in men's basketball
for just the ninth time in school history Tuesday (Nov. 23). The
Huskies are 8-0 all-time against the Lions with all eight of those
contests coming at the SDC Gym. Tech won 81-58 in 2008, which was
the last official game between the schools. The teams met a year
ago in a preseason contest which the Huskies won 71-61.
HEAD COACH KEVIN LUKE
Kevin
Luke is in his 17th year on the Michigan Tech bench as head
coach. The school's winningest skipper owns a career record of
286-178 (.616 winning percentage). He is a four-time GLIAC Coach of
the Year and was the 2002-03 NABC National Coach of the Year.
