Huskies and Wildcats To Meet For Final Time Tonight

This Week

Michigan Tech will face Northern Michigan for the third and final time Tuesday (Jan. 12). Fans can listen to Dirk Hembroff of WKMJ broadcast both games on 93.5 FM or at www.pasty.net. Live stats and a live stream of the game can be found at Michigan Tech's website (www.MichiganTechHuskies.com).

The Series
Michigan Tech has a 47-62-11 all-time record against Northern Michigan, including a 26-27-6 record against the Wildcats in Houghton. The two teams split a pair of games earlier this season with each team winning on it's home ice.

Strength of Schedule
Michigan Tech currently ranks first in strength of schedule in Ken's Rankings for American College Hockey. This weekend's opponent Alaska Anchorage ranks second.

Welcome Home
Tuesday's game will be the first of seven straight home games for the Huskies. Tech had played 11 of it's previous 13 games on the road.

Familiar Foes
Tuesday's game against Northern Michigan is the sixth non-conference game Michigan Tech has played against the CCHA this season. The Huskies are 1-5-0 in non-conference games this season.

Taking It to the Next Level
Former Michigan Tech forward Davis Payne was recently named head coach of the St. Louis Blues. The Kamloops, B.C., native was previously the coach of the Peoria Rivermen of the American Hockey League and the Alaska Aces of the East Coast Hockey League. Payne recorded 71 points (37 goals, 34 assists) in 130 games from 1988-92.

Seigo Continues with Assists
Freshman Steven Seigo recorded his team-leading 12th assist of the season on junior Jordan Baker's power play goal at 19:44 of the third period against St. Cloud State on Friday (Jan. 8). He leads all freshmen defensemen in the WCHA in points with 13 (one goal, 12 assists). Seigo also ranks fourth in the WCHA in freshmen scoring and sixth in defensemen scoring.

Royer Makes Big Return
Junior Bennett Royer returned to the line-up against Michigan at the Great Lakes Invitational after missing the previous nine games. In just his second game back against St. Cloud State he tallied his first assist of the season and the following night scored his first goal of the season. He has 16 points (four goals, 12 assists) in 82 career games.

Foreign Tour
The Michigan Tech hockey team will travel to Germany this August as part of a foreign tour. The team will play five games against professional teams.

Former Coach Passes Away
Former Michigan Tech coach Amo Bessone passed away this week in New Mexico. He was 93. He posted a 20-31-2 record for the Huskies from 1948-51 before taking a job at Michigan State.

No Overtime
Michigan Tech is the only team in the WCHA which has not played an overtime game this season. Last year the Huskies played 10 overtime games and tied the WCHA record for most ties in a season with seven. The last time Tech played an overtime game was a 6-5 win against Minnesota on March 6, 2009.

Thank Goodness Its Friday
All three of Michigan Tech's wins this season have come on a Friday.

Looking Ahead
Michigan Tech will host Alaska Anchorage in a pair or WCHA games this weekend (Jan. 15-16).
