SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - Michigan Tech used a season-high .248
attack percentage to cruise to a 3-0 victory over Lake Superior
State to open Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
volleyball play Friday (Sept. 11). With the win the Huskies improve
to 3-6 overall and 1-0 in the GLIAC while the Lakers remain win
less (0-9, 0-1) on the year.
Tech took game one 25-15 before winning game two 25-9. The nine
points were the fewest points Tech has held an opponent to in a
25-point set this season. The Huskies were pushed to extra points
in the third set but came out victorious with a 28-26 win.
Tech finished with a 14-3 advantage in service aces in the
match.
Sophomore Kristine Sexton recorded a
match-high 15 kills and finished with a .545 attack percentage.
Freshman Madeline Haben led
the team in both assists (32) and digs (10).
Senior Alicia Schneider
recorded two of the team's three blocks (one solo, two assists) in
the match.
The team will wrap-up the weekend Saturday (Sept. 12) with a GLIAC
match at Saginaw Valley State.
