TECH TOPS IN MIDWEST REGION
Michigan Tech is the top team in the region! After appearing at No. 2 in the first NCAA Division II Midwest Region poll of the 2008-09 season last week, the Huskies have assumed the No. 1 spot. Northern Kentucky, which stood atop the region a week ago, split its two games last week while Tech won twice including a victory over the region's sixth-ranked team Grand Valley State. The region rankings determine the teams that comprise the NCAA Tournament in March, with the top-seeded team in each of the nation's eight regions getting the chance to host. See page 2 for complete region rankings.

NATIONAL RANKING UP TO NO. 8
Michigan Tech is No. 8 in the latest WBCA ESPN/USA TODAY Division II poll, marking the third straight week the Huskies are ranked in the nation's top 10. Tech has been in the top 25 all season long. It started the year at No. 12. The Huskies' current ranking is their highest since the 1999-2000 season when they rose as high as No. 4 in the nation. See page 2 for the complete WBCA poll.

WYSOCKY GLIAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Junior Katie Wysocky earned GLIAC North Division Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season. It was also Tech's second straight league player of the week and the school's fifth in 11 weeks this season. Wysocky averaged 19.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in two wins last week. The 6-0 junior forward posted 21 points, 14 rebounds and five assists in a 74-63 win over No. 20 Grand Valley State. She then added 18 points, seven rebounds and two assists in an 80-70 win over Ferris State.

TECH'S STREAK OF SUCCESS CONTINUES!
Michigan Tech, with its 17-2 record and only eight regular season games to go, has assured itself a winning season for the 21st consecutive season. The last time a Tech women's basketball team didn't finish above .500 was in 1987-88. Starting with the 1988-89 campaign, the Huskies are 445-165 (73.0 pct.).

WINNING STREAKS/HISTORY IN PROGRESS
Michigan Tech's 14-0 start to the GLIAC season is the best in school history and also the program's most consecutive GLIAC wins. Tech's has won nine straight games overall — its longest streak since 2004-05 when it won 15 in a row. The Huskies' 17-2 overall record is the third-best start to a season in school history. Both the 1992-93 and 1998-99 teams opened 19-1.

WYSOCKY NEEDS 23 REBOUNDS FOR 700
Katie Wysocky tallied 21 rebounds in to games last week to improve her career total to 677 rebounds. The 6-0 junior forward needs just 23 more to reach 700 for her career and tie Jenny Postlewaite for third place all-time.

STREAM DISHES NEW CAREER HIGH IN ASSISTS
Junior Sarah Stream posted a new career high in assists with 10 in Michigan Tech's 74-63 win over No. 20 Grand Valley State last Thursday (Jan. 29). The Huskies had assists on 24-of-26 field goals in the game, with Stream shattering her previous high of seven. Stream leads the GLIAC and ranks third in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio at 3.0-to-1.

SERIES HISTORY
Tech is 1-0 all-time vs. Tiffin after winning 83-59 earlier this season (Jan. 10). The Huskies are 10-6 in the all-time series vs. Ashland after a 75-39 victory four weeks ago (Jan. 8). See page 5 for complete series history.

THE GUISFREDI FACTOR
In sophomore Angela Guisfredi's two-year career with Michigan Tech, the Huskies are 28-2 when the 5-5 guard scores a point. Even better, Tech is undefeated in its last 17 games when Guisfredi makes a 3-pointer. The Hubbell, Mich., native averages 2.4 points per contest so far in 2008-09.

NATIONAL STAT LEADERS
Michigan Tech leads the nation in 3-point shooting (42.3 percent), turnovers per game at 11.8 per contest and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.48-to-1). The Huskies are second in Division II in field goal percentage at 48.0.
