TECH TOPS IN MIDWEST REGION
Michigan Tech is the top team in the region! After
appearing at No. 2 in the first NCAA Division II Midwest Region
poll of the 2008-09 season last week, the Huskies have assumed the
No. 1 spot. Northern Kentucky, which stood atop the region a week
ago, split its two games last week while Tech won twice including a
victory over the region's sixth-ranked team Grand Valley State. The
region rankings determine the teams that comprise the NCAA
Tournament in March, with the top-seeded team in each of the
nation's eight regions getting the chance to host. See page 2 for
complete region rankings.
NATIONAL RANKING UP TO NO. 8
Michigan Tech is No. 8 in the latest WBCA ESPN/USA TODAY
Division II poll, marking the third straight week the Huskies are

season long. It started the year at No. 12. The Huskies' current
ranking is their highest since the 1999-2000 season when they rose

overall record is the third-best start to a season in school
history. Both the 1992-93 and 1998-99 teams opened 19-1.
