MADISON, Wis. - Senior Blake Geoffrion scored a hat trick to
lead No. 16 Wisconsin to an 8-2 WCHA win over Michigan Tech in
front of 12,050 fans at the Kohl Center Friday (Dec. 4).
Senior John Kivisto scored the
first goal for Tech at 15:26 of the first period. The Brighton,
Mich., native sent a long shot from the blue line that hit a Badger
defender before going by UW goalie Brett Bennett. Freshman Anthony
Schooley and senior Drew Dobson each assisted on
the power play goal.
Sophomore Brett Olson netted the other
goal for the Huskies thanks to his wrist shot at 13:48 of the third
period. Senior Malcolm Gwilliam and
freshman Steven
Seigo each assisted on the power play goal.
Tech (3-10-0, 2-9-0) finished two-for-five on the man-advantage and
Wisconsin (9-5-1, 6-4-1) was three-for-five.
Sophomore Josh Robinson (1-4-0) made
10 saves and gave up four goals and freshman Kevin
Genoe made 28 saves and allowed four goals.
Bennett made 20 saves on 22 shots in the Badger victory.
The two teams will close the weekend series Saturday (Dec. 5).
