HUSKIES INTO TOP 10 IN WBCA POLL
For the first time this season and first time since 1999, the Michigan Tech women's basketball team is ranked in the top 10 of the WBCA ESPN/USA TODAY Division II Poll. The Huskies are tied for 10th in the poll, up five spots from its No. 15 rank a week ago. Tech opened the year No. 12 in the WBCA poll and No. 7 in the Division II Bulletin Preseason Poll. Michigan Tech has been ranked in the top 25 all season long.

TECH LOOKING TO MAKE HISTORY
Michigan Tech is 13-2 overall and 10-0 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The 10-0 league start is the second-best in school history, trailing only the 1992-93 team's 11-0 opening to conference play. John Barnes' 2004-05 team also began the GLIAC season 10-0, but lost to Lake Superior State.

WYSOCKY SIXTH ALL-TIME IN REBOUNDS
With 22 rebounds in two games last week, junior Katie Wysocky has moved into sixth place on Michigan Tech's all-time rebounding chart. The 6-0 forward owns 637 career boards — just nine shy of fifth place and 20 short of fourth place on the list. Wysocky ranks second in the GLIAC and 38th in NCAA Division II in rebounding on the year at 9.7 per game.
Player Career Rebounds

2. Mary Fisher (1983-87) 716
3. Jenny Postlewaite (1989-93) 700
4. Clara Goggins (1996-2000) 656

6. Katie Wysocky (2006-present) 637

TIGHT GAMES ON THE ROAD
The Michigan Tech women's basketball team won both its games last week by a combined three points. The 15th-ranked Huskies received a layup from Lisa Staehlin with less than a second left to upset No. 4 Hillsdale 54-52 on the road Thursday (Jan. 15). Tech then avoided upset at Findlay Saturday (Jan. 17) when Katie Zimmerman made two free throws with nine seconds to go in a 71-70 decision.

STREAM FINDS SCORING TOUCH
Junior point guard Sarah Stream has found her scoring touch as of late, with 27 points in her last three halves of basketball. She tallied eight points in the second half of Tech's 54-52 win at No. 4 Hillsdale last Thursday (Jan. 15) before scoring 19 points at Findlay. Stream averages 9.8 points and 3.8 assists on the year.

NATIONAL STAT RANKINGS
Michigan Tech leads the nation in turnovers per game at 11.5 per contest — more than a turnover less than California State San Bernadino, which is second at 13.0. The Huskies also rank first in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.46-to-1. Tech is also in the top 10 of the country in 3-point field goal percentage (2nd at 41.1) and personal fouls per game (3rd at 12.7).

SERIES HISTORY
Michigan Tech owns a 33-31 lead vs. Saginaw Valley State in the all-time series between the schools. The Huskies have won three straight vs. the Cardinals and 16 of the last 18 meetings in the series. Tech is 35-39 in 74 games vs. Lake Superior State. The teams split the season series a year ago with the visiting team winning each time. LSSU is the only team that Tech head coach John Barnes does not have a winning record against. See page 5 for complete series history.

HEAD COACH JOHN BARNES
Sixth-year Michigan Tech head coach John Barnes owns a 111-47 (.703) career record. Barnes led the 2007-08 Huskies to their first GLIAC North Division title and GLIAC Tourney title since 2001. He was named GLIAC Coach of the Year in 2005-06.
