BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - Michigan Tech jumped out to a 2-0 lead
before defeating Ferris State, 3-2, in Great Lakes Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference action Saturday (Sept. 20). With the win, the
Huskies improve to 8-5 overall and 3-2 in the GLIAC while the
Bulldogs fall to 7-7 overall and 1-4 in league play.
"I was really glad that we got the win tonight," said head coach Krista
Mikesch, after recording her first ever win against Ferris
State. "I was disappointed that we let them back in the match after
the second set but I was happy to see our leaders step up and
finish the match."
Senior Jen Jung paced the Huskies with 14 kills and
eight block assists while junior Veronica
Armstrong added a match-high 15 kills and five block assists.
Senior Kelsey Skoog finished with a match-high 38
assists and four kills in the Tech victory.
The Huskies continued their dominance on defense this season
finishing with a 15.5 to 10.0 advantage in blocks.
The Huskies next match will be at Findlay on Sept. 26th at 7:30
p.m.
