SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Michigan Tech volleyball team hit
.286 in a 3-1 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win
at Lake Superior State Saturday (Oct. 25). The Huskies (16-8,
10-3), who lead the nation in blocks, finished with a 14.0 to 2.0
advantage in blocks over the Lakers (6-15, 2-11).
Tech won the first two sets (25-21, 25-12) but dropped the third
set (16-25). The Huskies then claimed set four (25-20) for the
win.
Junior Kelly Jorgensen led the Huskies with a match-high
12 kills. She added two block solos and four block assists.
Junior Veronica Armstrong finished with 10 of Tech's 51
kills in the match and senior Kelsey
Skoog tallied 36 assists.
Senior Jen Jung, who ranks second in the nation in
blocks per set, finished with a match-high seven block assists.
Overall the Huskies topped the Lakers in every major statistical
category except service aces (five to seven).
Michigan Tech will play at rival Northern Michigan in a pivotal
GLIAC North match-up Friday (Oct. 31).
