HUSKIES GARNER FIRST NATIONAL RANKING IN SEVEN
YEARS
Michigan Tech is ranked in the nation's top 25 for the first time
since the end of the 2001 season. The Huskies garnered a No. 19
spot in the latest edition of the Women's Basketball Coaches
Association/ESPN Division II Top 25 poll. Despite having four
seasons with 19 or more wins in the last six years, Michigan Tech
has not been ranked in the top 25 since March 2001. The Huskies
were ranked 13th to end that season in which it went 26-4 and
hosted the NCAA Great Lakes Regional.
WYSOCKY KEEPS PLUGGING ALONG
Sophomore Katie Wysocky continues to put up strong numbers across
the board. The 6-0 forward ranks in the top five of the GLIAC in
five different statistical categories: scoring (5th at 16.3 points
per game), rebounding (3rd at 9.8 per game), field goal percentage
(4th at 56.8), free throw percentage (2nd at 88.7) and 3-point
field goal percentage (1st at 51.2). Wysocky, who owns 177 rebounds
on the season, is on pace to break the school records for rebounds
in a season (255) and 3-point percentage (46.7). She is also within
reach of the school's field goal percentage mark of 58.3.
NEWEST MEMBER OF THE 1,000-POINT CLUB
Senior Catherine Rottier became the 16th member of Michigan Tech's
1,000-point club in women's basketball last Thursday (Jan. 17) as
she knocked down a free throw in the first half of a win vs. Wayne
State. Rottier finished the game with 16 points. The 5-8 point
guard is averaging 10.7 points per game on the season and at that
pace would finish her career as the 13th-highest scorer in school
history.
DANAE KEEPS UP THE HOT SCORING PACE
Danae Danen has scored 102 of her 208 points this season in the
last six games. That's a scoring average of 17.0 per game since the
calendar turned to 2008. The 6-0 post player registered 22 points
vs. Wayne State last Thursday (Jan. 17) and 17 more vs. Hillsdale
last Saturday (Jan. 19). She is shooting 53.5 percent from the
field on the season.

Three of Michigan Tech's top four players in terms of scoring
average are sophomores. Katie Wysocky averages a team-high 16.3
points per game. Danae Danen is at 11.6 points per contest, while
Katie Zimmerman averages 9.1 points. The trio has accounted for 51
percent of the team's points this season.

the 1998-99 season. That stretch encompasses 19 consecutive winning
seasons, 12 NCAA Tournament appearances and a league-record 17
consecutive GLIAC Tournament appearances.

Michigan Tech owns an 8-5 record all-time against Ashland including
wins each of the last three matchups. The Huskies are 4-1 vs. the
Eagles in games played in Houghton. Tech is 34-21 against Ferris
State after the teams split the season series last year. In the
last 40 games between the teams, the Huskies are 33-7 against
FSU.
