Huskies Defense Among National Leaders As Well
HOUGHTON, Mich. -- Michigan Tech is once again well represented
in the national statistics this week.
Senior Radayl Richardson (Detroit, Mich./De Porres) moved up to
second in the country in free throw percentage by making 11-of-12
foul shots last week. The 6-3 guard owns a 91.6 percent mark. He
had made a school-record 29 consecutive free throws over nine games
before missing one at Lake Superior State last Saturday (Feb. 10).
Richardson is 87-of-95 at the free throw line this season and is
just over two percent behind the national leader (93.8).
As a team, Tech ranks among the national leaders in three
statistical categories. The Huskies are seventh among 262 NCAA
Division II schools in field goal percentage defense at 39.2
percent. MTU also ranks second in turnovers per game (12.5) and
11th in scoring defense (61.3 points allowed per game).
