DETROIT The Michigan Tech volleyball team took game one
of its match at Wayne State tonight, but the Warriors bounced back
for a 3-1 victory at the Matthei Center. The Huskies (6-10, 4-5
GLIAC) scored a 30-21 victory in the opening frame before WSU
claimed the next three games by scores of 30-24, 30-27, and
30-25.
Veronica Armstrong paced the Huskies in kills with 13. She also had
10 digs. Kali Jeter notched 11 kills and 20 digs and was named
Superior Player of the Match. Alison Greene and Kelsey Skoog shared
the setting duties with 25 and 24 assists, respectively.
"We need to learn to play on the road the same as we do at home,"
said coach Krista Mikesch. "We started great tonight, but let them
back into the match."
Michigan Tech tallied a .148 hitting percentage compared to Wayne
State's .121 mark. The Huskies compiled a season-high 86 digs as a
team.
Tech will have a week off before returning to action on Saturday,
Oct. 13. The Huskies will travel to face Findlay for a 4 p.m.
opening serve.
