HOUGHTON, Mich. The Michigan Tech volleyball team
suffered its first home loss of the season at the hands of Great
Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival Ferris State today,
3-0. The visiting Bulldogs swept the three games with scores of
30-27, 31-29, and 30-27.
The Huskies had their chances in the match as the games were tied
at 26, 29, and 24, in the three games, respectively.
Jen Jung tallied a team highs of 11 kills and .588 hitting
percentage in a balanced Tech attack. Four other players had six or
more kills including Christa Jung who had eight.
Alison Greene recorded 21 assists and Kaitlin Wiza notched 13 digs
to pace the team in both categories.
"This may be a broken record, but we didn't finish well tonight,"
said head coach Krista Mikesch. "We played well in spurts, but we
just couldn't put the nail in the coffin at the end of any of the
games."
Ferris State posted a .239 team hitting percentage compared to
Tech's .154.
Michigan Tech (6-13, 4-8 GLIAC) will return to action tomorrow by
hosting Grand Valley State at the SDC Gym at 4 p.m.
