MANKATO, Minn. -- Michigan Tech (6-18-3, 5-11-3 WCHA) netminder
Michael-Lee Teslak stopped 40 shots, but Minnesota State (12-13-4,
8-10-3 WCHA) forward Ryan Carter's three-goal effort allowed the
Mavericks to earn a 4-0 win over the Huskies Friday night in front
of an announced crowd of 3,435 at the Midwest Wireless Civic
Center.
The Mavericks scored the lone goal of the opening period at the
10:03 mark, as Travis Morin recorded his 17th goal of the season
off an assist from linemate David Backes.
The home team then received markers from Carter at 7:24 and 8:59 of
the second stanza to extend its lead to 3-0.
Carter added his final tally of the evening at the 13:49 mark of
the third frame to close out the game's scoring.
Rookie goalie Dan Tormey improved to 11-8-4 after making 26 saves
for MSU.
Both teams went 0-for-4 on the power play.
Michigan Tech and Minnesota State will meet on the ice again
Saturday night at 8:07 p.m. EST.
