WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SIGNS THREE PLAYERS FOR 2007-08

Lynn Giesler, Krista Kasuboski, and Lindsey Lindstrom Added to Roster

HOUGHTON, Mich. -- Michigan Tech Women's Basketball Coach John Barnes today announced the signing of Lynn Giesler (Green Bay, Wis./Preble), Krista Kasuboski (Wautoma, Wis.), and Lindsey Lindstrom (Superior, Wis.) to National Letters of Intent. All three will attend and play basketball at Michigan Tech next fall.

Giesler, a 6-1 post player, averaged 13 points and eight rebounds a year ago and earned All-Fox River Valley Conference Second Team honors. She finished third in the league in scoring and was first in blocked shots. Giesler, who has started on the varsity squad since she was a freshman, notched 10 points and six points per game in 2004-05. "Lynn gives us tremendous size at the center spot," said Barnes. "She is an extremely smart player who can score with her back to the basket or face up and hit shots from 15 feet."

Lindstrom, a 6-0 forward, was named one of the 50 best players in Wisconsin in the Class of 2007 by Wisconsin Women's Basketball Yearbook. She averaged 18 points and 12 rebounds per game as a junior and earned player of the year honors from the Superior Daily Telegram for the second straight year. The two-time All-Lake Superior Conference First Team selection helped Superior High to its best record in school history (18-3) in 2004-05. "Lindsey will provide height and athleticism at the off-guard/small forward position," said Barnes. "She has excellent three-point range and the ability to slash to the basket and score."

Kasuboski, a 5-9 guard, is a three-time All-South Central Conference First Team pick. She averaged 17 points and seven rebounds a year ago to earn SCC Player of the Year honors. Kasuboski was an all-state honorable mention as a sophomore and has garnered all-area first team laurels each of her first three seasons. "Krista has very good perimeter skills," said Barnes. "She can not only score, but also find open teammates as well. She's a multi-dimensional player who knows how to play the game."

Michigan Tech, fresh off a win at #20 Rollins last Saturday (Nov. 25), will travel to Northern Michigan tonight for a date with the arch rival Wildcats.
