BIG RAPIDS, Mich. -- Ferris State swept the Michigan Tech
volleyball team by scores of 30-22, 30-23, 30-22, Saturday in Great
Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference competition at Ewigleben
Arena. The Huskies fell to 13-13 overall and 9-7 in the GLIAC,
while the Bulldogs improved their overall record to 19-6 and 11-5
in the conference.
Sophomore Jen Jung (Andover, Minn./Coon Rapids) led the Huskies
with five kills, three block assists and one block solo. Sister
Christa Jung (Andover, Minn./Coon Rapids) notched four kills and
four block assists.
Senior setter Amanda Mackenthun (Waconia, Minn./Mayer Lutheran)
distributed 16 assists, while sophomore libero Kelsey Skoog (Long
Lake, Minn./Orono) led her squad with 17 digs.
Daniell Baucher paced FSU with 12 kills, 13 digs and two block
assists. Candice Marut led all players with 23 helpers in the
match.
The Bulldogs compiled a .152 hitting percentage, compared to a .023
mark for the Huskies.
FSU filed a 7-6 advantage in total blocks.
Tech returns to the SDC Gym for its final home matches of the
season next Friday (Oct. 27) and Saturday (Oct. 28). The Huskies
host Northwood at 5 p.m
