ALLENDALE, Mich. -- Sixth-ranked Grand Valley State (22-2, 15-1
GLIAC) defeated the Michigan Tech (13-12, 9-6 GLIAC) volleyball
team, 3-0, at the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena in Great Lakes
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference volleyball action Friday night.
The Lakers won by scores of 30-17, 30-16, 30-20.
Three Huskies finished with kills in the match, including sophomore
Veronica Armstrong (Battle Creek, Mich./Central), junior Kali Jeter
(Middleton, Wis.) and sophomore Jen Jung (Andover, Minn./Coon
Rapids). Armstrong added five digs, one service ace and one block
assist. Jeter contributed also contributed five digs, while Jung
two block assists and one dig.
Senior Amanda Neuhalfen (Arlington, Neb.) chipped in four kills,
two digs, two block solos and one block assist. Sophomore Christa
Jung (Andover, Minn./Coon Rapids) turned in four kills, two digs
and one block assist.
Freshman Alison Greene (Andover, Minn./Totino Grace) led the
Huskies with 16 assists.
Meghan Moore paced GVSU with a match-best 14 kills, while Jamie
Ashmore led all players with 32 assists.
The Lakers hit .372, compared to a .051 clip for the Huskies.
Tech continues its weekend road trip with a key match at Ferris
State Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m.
