Huskies Win Seventh Straight Behind Rottier's Career-High 21
Points
FINDLAY, Ohio -- Michigan Tech won its seventh straight game by
holding off Findlay, 72-67, in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference game at Croy Gymnasium today. Catherine Rottier
poured in a career-high 24 points to lead the Huskies.
Michigan Tech led by as many as nine points in the first half. That
margin came at the 4:42 mark when Sarah Magee hit a layup. Findlay
scored the next seven points to close the gap to two. Rottier then
hit a three-pointer with 1:25 to go and a jumper at the buzzer to
give MTU a 31-26 lead at halftime.
Tech built up another lead of nine points in the second half, but
the Oilers had the margin down to 48-46 at the 10:12 mark. Maria
Schneider then stepped up with a bucket, an assist and a
three-pointer on three straight possessions to push the margin back
to nine at the 8:06 mark.
A Findlay triple with 1:57 to play cut the differential to four,
64-60. Magee made a layup on the next possession and Tech connected
on six free throws in the final minute for the win.
Rottier finished with a double double with 24 points and 10
rebounds. Magee added 15 points and Alicia Schneider came off the
bench for 13 points.
MTU won the rebounding battle with Rottier's 10 and Jenna Bartels'
nine. Shooting percentages (43 for MTU, 42 for UF) and turnovers
(14 for MTU, 15 for UF) were nearly even between the squads.
Michigan Tech (8-1, 4-0 GLIAC) will travel to Minnesota Duluth on
Wednesday (Dec. 21) for a 7 p.m. (ET) tipoff. The contest will be
the Huskies final one of December.
