HOUGHTON, Mich. -- St. Cloud State (3-6-1, 2-5-1 WCHA)
dispatched the Michigan Tech (2-9-1, 1-4-1 WCHA) hockey team by a
7-0 clip to earn a series split at the John MacInnes Student Ice
Arena Saturday night.
The Huskies from SCSU scored three times in the opening period, as
Justin Fletcher scored on the power play at 2:08, while Andrew
Gordon and Joe Jensen tallied goals at the 7:41 and 17:03 mark.
Freshman goalie Rob Nolan was pulled after stopping 10 shots in the
first stanza. Fellow rookie Michael-Lee Teslak replaced Nolan for
the duration of the game.
The visitors lit up the scoreboard three more times in the second
frame. Billy Hengen and Joe Jensen each scored on the power play at
5:25 and 15:45 and Konrad Reeder made the score 6-0 with an
even-strength marker at the 18:29 mark.
Matt Hartman added one more tally with a man advantage at 2:02 of
the final period to round out the scoring for the victors.
Teslak finished with 25 saves in two periods of action and SCSU\'s
Bobby Goepfert recorded his first shutout of the season.
MTU was outshot 42-14 for the game.
St. Cloud State was 4-11 on the power play, as compared to Tech\'s
0-8 mark.
Michigan Tech travels to Colorado College for a pair of contests
next Friday (Nov. 18) and Saturday (Nov. 19) at Colorado Springs
World Arena. Opening faceoff is slated for 9:07 p.m. both
nights.
