Nicasio Paquiz Jr.

Nicasio Paquiz Jr., who has 18 years of coachingexperience at the NCAA Div. I, elite club and high school (bothgirls and boys) levels, begins his first season with the Huskies in2012.

Paquiz came to Houghton from Chicago, where he was the head coachfor the 18-Silver team at 1st Alliance Volleyball Club. 1stAlliance is considered one of the premier programs nationwide andPaquiz’s team recently took first at the ultra-competitiveGreat Lakes Power League. He is well known in the national clubvolleyball scene, an asset sure to be valuable for Tech’srecruiting efforts.

In the fall of 2011, Paquiz was an assistant coach atWisconsin-Green Bay, a Div. I member of the Horizon League. Whileat Green Bay, Paquiz primarily worked with defense, blockingsystems and serve receive. Outside the gym, he assisted with allaspects of the program, including recruiting, travel, scouting, andfilm exchange.

Paquiz’s other collegiate experience comes from DePaulUniversity, a Div. I member of the Big East Conference which hespent alongside Jennings.  

In addition to his time in the Midwest, Paquiz has over nine yearsof coaching in Southern California an area known for itsvolleyball. Paquiz served as head coach of the boy’s andgirl’s teams at the Brentwood School in Los Angeles and thehead coach of the Santa Monica Beach Volleyball Club.

Paquiz graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago in1998 with a degree in architectural studies and worked 11 years atthe Landry Design Group in Los Angeles.
