Jan Lebard
1st-Year Graduate Student
Hometown: Autrans, Isère, France
Program: Data Science, M.S.

Before joining Michigan Tech, Jan Lebard skied for Team Vercors-Isère in France, competing at both the junior and senior levels. His results include an 11th-place finish at the U20 Senior French Cup in 2022–23, a third-place finish in the U20 Classic Sprint at the French National Championships in 2023–24, and a 17th-place finish at the Senior French Cup that same season. In 2024–25, he placed 14th at the Senior French Cup and 20th at the Senior French Distance Championships. During the 2025–26 season, Lebard finished 17th at the Engadin Ski Marathon and 11th at the Senior French Cup. Lebard graduated from Grenoble École de Management with an undergraduate degree in Business Development & Digital Strategy. He chose Michigan Tech after conversations with coaches, faculty and current students showed him that the university offers a close-knit community where he can grow both as an athlete and as a person. He is also grateful to Félix Cottet, whose advice and recommendation first introduced him to Michigan Tech and played an important role in his decision. Off the trails, you can probably recognize Jan by his French accent, a Hermann Hesse novel in hand, Led Zeppelin in his headphones, or his enthusiasm for an Agnès Varda film.
